President Abinader reinforces patrolling with 21,300 added agents

Santo Domingo. – The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, yesterday delivered 50 motorcycles to be used in motorized patrols to strengthen Citizen Security and preventive services against Covid-19.
This delivery is part of the Citizen Security Strengthening Plan, which was carried out at the Ministry of Defense.
Between the police and soldiers, there will be 21,300 added troops on the streets with dozens of vehicles as part of the operational strategy.
At the press conference, the President announced a 15% salary increase for members of the National Police and the Armed Forces who are destined to work on combat plans against COVID-19 and an increase of 10 % in the economic incentives of these agents.
Plan
“Our government will implement a plan to detect, isolate, track and treat those infected by COVID-19 on an unprecedented scale in our history,” said the President, adding that the military and police agencies are key in the achievement of the proposed objectives in the confrontation of the global pandemic.
At the end of the tour, the director of the National Police, Major General Edward Sánchez, said that they will harden the implementation of sanctions for those who fail to comply with the curfew measures and close business on time.
“Already today all regional and departmental directors were duly instructed, in coordination with the Public Ministry, so that these sanctions are implemented if there is a provision of the State, that there is a closure, everyone must comply with that provision”, Sanchez stated.
Curfew
So far, President Abinader has not spoken of an extension of the curfew or a variation in its schedule.
Hundreds of citizens still resist complying with the curfew measure, implemented to control the contagion of the coronavirus, which has infected more than 89,000 people and caused the death of 1,533 in the country.
