Over 20 percent remained positive for Covid-19 in the DR
From July 1st to date, the positivity of Covid-19 has remained above 20% of the samples processed, oscillating between an average of 21% and 22%.
During the last 17 days, the country reported the registration of 14,256 new cases of the virus captured in samples analyzed at the national level and a single death due to the disease.
496 new cases of the virus were reported, after analyzing 5,089 laboratory samples.
Daily positivity was placed at 22.41% and that of the last four weeks at 13.14%.
The cases of people with the active virus rose to 5,020 as of July 17th according to the report of the epidemiological bulletin 850 issued yesterday by the General Directorate of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health.
The patients hospitalized for Covid-19 as of July 17th is 162, admitted to beds located in regular rooms and 23 in Intensive Care Units (ICU), of which five were connected to ventilation.
The country registers a cumulative of 622,432 positive cases since the start of the pandemic and 4,383 deaths. The lethality of the country is 0.70%.
Among those under 20 years of age, the system notifies 78,226 records of accumulated positive cases, as well as 3,071 in health workers and 3,698 in pregnant women.
The National District and Santiago reported the same number of new positive cases, with 148 each, followed by 90 cases in the province of Santo Domingo and 50 in Espaillat.
Some 12 provinces did not report any positive cases in yesterday’s report.
