Legendary Dominican wrestler Jack Veneno dies at 78
Former legendary wrestler, Rafael Sánchez (Jack Veneno), died at 78 after battling health complications from pancreatic cancer.
“You fought her to death, you won the girdle of eternity. Goodbye father,” published the daughter of the former fighter, Paola Sánchez, on her Instagram account, who broke the news at 2:15AM, April 6th,
Best known as “El Campeón de la Bolita del Mundo” (Champion of the World), famous for defeating Rick Flair in 1982, had been admitted a few weeks ago to the Cruz Jiminián clinic, after showing severe anemia and dehydration.
Jack Veneno was admitted last Friday, March 26, at the Cruz Jiminián clinic, the pancreatic cancer had metastasized in his lungs, later he was transferred to the Rosa Emilia Tavares National Cancer Institute, where he was discharged four days ago after presenting improvement in his clinical four.
On December 30th, Veneno posted a message on his Facebook account, saying that he feared he would not see the new year due to the deterioration in which he was due to the disease.
Veneno is a household name in the Dominican Republic and remains a hero of many generations that saw him on the ring.
