The Dominican Republic has already insured two million vaccines against COVID-19, a global pandemic that has greatly affected the country.
The news about the availability of the vaccine for the Dominican territory was communicated by Alma Morales, representative of the World Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in the country.
Morales referred to the issue when she was interviewed on the television program Nuria Investigación Periodística.
“There is already a guarantee for 20% of the world population, which means that for the Dominican Republic there are two million, two million vaccines for the first phase of delivery of the vaccine,” she said.
According to the interview, the vaccine referred to by Morales is Sputnik V, produced by Russia.
She indicated that the Vaccination Alliance, known as Gavi, has been conducting negotiations so that countries with limited resources have access to the drug.
“Gavi is already negotiating, Gavi has already made many negotiations with vaccine producers,” she stressed.
