Dominican education board repeals gender ideology policy

The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd) repealed Departmental Order 33-2019, which established as a priority the design and implementation of a gender policy in that State agency.
Local newspaper Listín Diario confirmed that the annulment was approved by the National Council of Education on Monday.
“Departmental Order No. 33-2019, which established as a priority the design and implementation of the Gender Policy in the Ministry of Education, is repealed with immediate effect,” establishes the only article of the new order 44-2022, dated of December 12, 2022 and the signature of Minister Ángel Hernández.
According to Hernández, the order was never implemented and created “unnecessary noise with the religious sectors.”
In addition to declaring the design and establishment of the gender policy in the Ministry of Education as a priority, the order signed by former minister Antonio Peña Mirabal, on May 22, 2019, indicates that it was going to be applied at different levels, systems and subsystems of Pre-University Education, in their plans, programs, projects, pedagogical strategies and administrative activities.
