Court sentences the killer of architect Leslie Rosado to 20 years
The First Collegiate Court of Santo Domingo sentenced this Monday to 20 years in prison the corporal of the National Police, Janli Disla Batista, for finishing off the architect Leslie Rosado with a shot to the head in October of last year, 2021.
In turn, he found the motorcyclist Rafael Castillo Novas guilty of complicity, who was sentenced to 10 years.
According to the Rosado family’s lawyer, Wendy Lora: “After analyzing the evidence submitted to it, the court proceeded to sentence Corporal Janli Disla Batista to 20 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter and psychological abuse, and Rafael Castillo Novas to 10 years in prison for complicity.
The technical defense of the Rosado family had requested that the Police officer Disla Batista be sentenced to 30 years in prison for murder.
“We will wait for the full sentence, in order to analyze it and make a decision on whether we are going to exercise the appeal regarding the sentence,” Lora said in a tweet published on the social network twitter.
According to the story of the Public Ministry, the tragic event in which Rosado lost his life occurred on the night of Saturday, October 2, 2021, while the architect and her 15-year-old daughter were traveling along Duarte Avenue, in Andrés, towards Boca Chica, aboard a Mercedes Benz vehicle.

According to the prosecution, Corporal Janli Disla Batista killed Leslie Rosado after he lightly brushed against the Suzuki brand motorcycle he was driving, while he was traveling with his wife, Santa de Jesús Ramírez, and their two minor children, who they were uninjured.
Once the alleged accident occurred, establishes the Prosecutor’s Office, the accused Disla Batista fired several shots at him that forced Leslie Rosado not to stop the vehicle, trying to save her life and that of her daughter.
Later, according to the story in the file, the corporal boarded the motorcycle that co-defendant Rafael Castillo Novas was driving and together they chased the architect’s vehicle. Upon arriving near the Boca Chica beach area, Janli Disla fired several shots at him again, which hit the vehicle, one near the license plate and another that embedded itself in the right rear tire.
Trying to escape, the architect made a left turn to return to the Nautical Club, where she had left minutes before, however, the traffic did not allow her to advance, which was used by the accused Janli Disla to approach.
With the regulation weapon in his hand, the agent repeatedly hit the driver’s side window, managing to injure the victim in the left hand, and fired two shots, one of which hit her in the head and caused her death. . He indicates that in the midst of the persecution, the accused asked for help from members of the Dominican Navy who were moving around the place in a truck from that institution.
