Brazil illuminates Christ of Corcovado with the Dominican flag colors
The Dominican Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, illuminated the Christ of Corcovado for the first time with the colors of the Quisqueyana flag, on the occasion of the 178th anniversary of Dominican Independence.
The Consul General, Kalil Michel, highlighted the patriotic analogy of the new event.
“For the first time under the protection of Christ, the Dominican flag was raised. For the first time, under the protection of Christ, we raised a Dominican flag of light and infinite projection, to commemorate our Independence and consecration as a nation”, said Michel.
Christ the Redeemer or Christ the Redeemer, is a 38-meter-high sculpture, run by the “Curadoria do Santuario Cristo Redentor”, whom the diplomat Michel praised, for honoring Dominican Independence.
“This gesture is a sign of the strengthening of bilateral relations between the Dominican Republic and Brazil based on the ethical and transformative government of President Luis Abinader,” he said.
On the other hand, the “Curatorial” and the Consulate, agreed to donate the grace of the event, to help the victims of the floods of Petrópolis.
“From Brazil we honor the homeland, supporting Petrópolis with a solidarity hug and dressing the Christ of Corcovado as a Dominican,” said the consul.
The lighting for the first time of Christ the Redeemer, by the Dominican Republic, is part of the commemorative actions of the National independence, developed by the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Rio de Janeiro, linked with the Dominican Embassy in Brazil and the Dominican Consulate in São Paulo.
