Authorities report 207 new infections and one death from COVID-19
The downward trend in active COVID-19 cases and accumulated positivity based on samples processed in the last four weeks in the Dominican Republic continues.
The Ministry of Public Health announced the detection of 207 new positives for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, after conducting 2,505 PCR tests to detect the virus.
While, in the last day death was reported, which brings to 3,976 the number of deaths accumulated since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of this August 12th, the Dominican Republic adds 345,325 cases of infectious disease, of which 6,486 remain active.
Accumulated positivity continues to decline according to official data, which today places it at 6.95%. The fatality rate is 1.15%.
Regarding the hospital occupation, the authorities reported that 482 beds are being used by patients in stable conditions. In addition, 163 infected are admitted to intensive care units and 104 people are connected to ventilators.
The epidemiological bulletin issued this August 12 reports that 38,050 young people under 20 years of age have been infected with the virus, as well as 1,409 health workers and 1,195 pregnant women.
