Abinader begins affiliation of two million Dominicans to public health insurance

Santo Domingo. – The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, began the affiliation of two million Dominicans to public health insurance and stated that investing in the health sector is the best way to improve public spending.

“What more quality than investing, spending (public) money in the health sector”, stated the head of state during the starting affiliation event of two million Dominicans to the National Health Insurance (Senasa), expected fo fulfill by December.

The president attended Los Pioneros Club on Tuesday morning, in the Villas Agrícolas sector where he said that it is one of the signs of better management of the State’s resources.

“We have said that we are going to make the government’s resources more efficiently to add quality to spending and what better quality than investing money in the health sector, in education and in the infrastructure that a country needs,” said Abinader during his speech at the event.

On August 16th, during his inauguration speech, the president assured that 2 million people who do not have health insurance will have it for free.

Those registered today will receive their insurance cards in 30 to 45 days.

Abinader said that by December 2020 all Dominicans will be affiliated.
