A 5.2 earthquake is registered in the southeast of the Dominican Republic
An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred around 6:15 in the morning (local time), 76 km southeast of the Dominican Republic and whose epicenter was registered in La Romana, reported the United States Geological Survey.
The quake occurred at a moderately shallow depth of 323 km below the epicenter near La Romana.
The monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) that listed the 5.3 magnitude earthquake. A third agency, the German Geosciences Research Center (GFZ), reported the same 5.2 magnitude earthquake.
Local authorities from the Seismological Institute said that there was a second quake 10 minutes after the first reported.
According to preliminary seismic data, the earthquake should not have caused any significant damage, but probably many people felt it as a slight vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Residents of the East region expressed that they felt the earthquakes describing, some, “I thought my bed was moving” and “a jolt in the morning.” So far, no damage has been reported.
The tremor, according to Twitter users, was felt in Boca de Yuma, in La Altagracia, and several points in the La Romana province.
