The capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, meets all the conditions to position itself and remain a leader of the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Events segment in the region, backed the Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia.
The public official’s remarks happened at the first Edition of SDQ Santo Domingo MICE 2018, joined by more than 130 delegates from 16 countries, hotel entrepreneurs, representatives of companies locally, and the national tourism sector.
Garcia recognized the importance and growth exhibited by the MICE segment worldwide, which represents a great opportunity given the advantages of the Dominican Republic over other countries and the already established tourism industry.
“We have what many countries do not have, such as the best air and road connectivity, the best hotel installation in the entire Caribbean region, the largest number of rooms and we receive the largest amount of investment for new projects,” said the minister.
The Dominican capital, he stated, “one who sees it today and compares it to twenty years ago realizes that there is a before and after.”
He highlighted the renovation of all the rooms, the construction of modern hotels, and the diversity of attractions that puts the city in a unique context, far from envy to any other in the hemisphere.
