Russia officially lifted all restrictions on scheduled and charter flights from the Dominican Republic imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, a measure that has been echoed by important Russian media.
This decision was made on the basis of the epidemiological situation in the country. This “shows that the Russian authorities appreciate the progress in handling the pandemic,” said the Dominican ambassador to Russia, Hans Dannenberg Castellanos, posted on Twitter.
According to a report by the Sputnik chain, the measure will be from August 27th.
“The decision was made to lift as of August 27, 2021, the restrictions for regular and irregular (charter) flights from Russian airports where international flights have resumed, to the Dominican Republic,” says the statement from the National Operational Center. for the Fight Against Coronavirus.
The same decision, approved at the end of a meeting of the Operational Center on preventing the arrival of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Russia, chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Gólikova, involves restoring regular and charter flights with South Korea. and the Czech Republic.
It is recalled that on July 23rd, the Operational Center announced that Russia would resume direct flights to the Dominican Republic on August 9. Then it was decided to return to cover the routes Moscow-Punta Cana, Moscow-La Romana, and Moscow-Puerto Plata, with a total frequency of three weekly flights.
The center reiterated its recommendation to Russian citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before traveling abroad.
