Punta Cana Medical Center: first internationally accredited general hospital in the DR
The Punta Cana Medical Center, a member of Grupo Rescue, received the international accreditation certificate through the Qmentum International-Accreditation Canada (AC) program, becoming the first third-level hospital that obtains an international accreditation in the Dominican Republic, in recognition to excellence in the quality of care for users, with a high level of safety for patients, their collaborators, and the community.
The Accreditation Committee for Accreditation of Canada, an entity that has the endorsement of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQUA), congratulated the institution for having reached the required quality standards, making them worthy of the Gold Seal accreditation.
With great satisfaction Dr. Jose Natalio Redondo, chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Rescue and founder of the institution, said that “for two years the entire team of the institution has worked hard in the process of accreditation of our health center, in order to achieve a cultural change in the service we offer to our patients”.
“Making Punta Cana Medical Center the first general hospital in the country to obtain international accreditation has been one of the biggest challenges achieved by Grupo Rescue,” said Dr. Redondo.

Likewise, Santiago Roca, corporate director of Quality, Efficiency, and Technology of Grupo Rescue, said that “this Gold seal is a new responsibility that drives us to make the necessary efforts to maintain this accreditation and continue advancing with the continuous improvement of our processes”.
As explained by the managers, this accreditation program was achieved after reaching a successful local rating, in category III, and required a profound cultural change in the service with the commitment of employees, as well as the expansion and modernization of physical facilities and equipment.
This allows us to make better use of resources, improve quality, increase efficiency, user safety, and better risk management.
Similarly, the executives expressed their responsibility to offer a high-value alternative in the development of the medical tourism niche, and thus be an important support in the harmonious development of the Bavaro-Punta Cana region and the country.
Also, it seeks to extend this practice to the expansion processes of Punta Cana Medical Center to become a world-class health city.
