President of Cap Cana considers that tourism is the “Dominican oil”
The president of the Board of Directors of Cap Cana Ciudad Destino, Fernando Hazoury, valued the country’s tourism sector by describing it as “Dominican oil”.
However, Hazoury considered that despite the development that tourism has had in the Dominican Republic, in recent years it “is still in its infancy.”
“Tourism is doing very well but it is still in its infancy, Spain developed and became practically a power in Europe in many ways, having one tourist for every inhabitant,” said Hazoury during the weekly lunch of the Corripio Communications Group.

He also argued that although the current government’s efforts to continue developing tourism are notorious, “this sector needs to double the 7 million tourists who arrive in the country every year.”
“For that we need all Dominicans, who were born with a sweet part that has no other destination in the Caribbean,” he pointed out.
According to official data provided by the Ministry of Tourism, so far this year the country has received 5,334,291 visitors, some 346,596 tourists more than in the same period (January-September) of 2019. This figure is expected to exceed 7 million by the end of 2022.
