The executive director of the Dominican Port Authority (Apordom), Jean Luis Rodríguez, announced the rehabilitation and renovation of the Samaná pier and the construction of the tourist port of the municipality of Sánchez in that same population, at a cost of more than 76 million pesos for both works .
Rodríguez explained that the tourist port of the municipality of Sánchez, in Samaná, will be built at a cost of 62 million pesos.
The official also indicated that in relation to the works of the Samaná dock, a budget of 14 million pesos was approved for its execution, which implies the remodeling and renovation works.
Around the beginning of the works of the work, he explained that this same month or at the beginning of the next one will be giving the first bite of the remodeling and renovation works of the port, which have already been tendered, awarded and approved.
He clarified that in a first stage, the dock had been intervened by the institution with the installation of a main gate and the rehabilitation of the electrical system and lighting, as well as the renovation of other important areas.
Among the examples, he pointed out that in the electrical aspect, it was found that there were many electrical cables that were not buried in the dock, but loose, a situation that endangered the lives of users and visitors.
The official offered his statements in an interview granted to the television program “Show del Medio Día”, produced by Iván Ruiz, on channel 9 of Color Vision.
Jean Luis Rodríguez also explained that the modern port to be built in the municipality of Sánchez, Samaná, will allow the reception of larger tourist boats.
After referring to the case of the deterioration of the tourist port, Cayo Levantado, of Samaná, which is in deplorable conditions, he said that there is a concessionaire interested in the execution of this work and that they hope for this same year that concessionaire company will also begin to develop that important tourist work.
“Unfortunately we do not have that project in the budget of the works that are going to be developed for that population this year,” he said.
He clarified, however, that there is a tourist development concession company which has been given all the facilities to start this project with an investment that was practically stopped.
He stressed that he has instructions from President Luis Abinader that these ports and docks be rescued by the institution.
“We, by order of President Abinader, are working hard to rehabilitate and rescue many of these docks that are operating in very poor conditions,” said the director of the Dominican Port Authority, Jean Luis Rodríguez.
