Why local regulations matter?
The Dominican Republic needs to generate productive linkages between regulatory entities like the Ministry of Health and accreditation companies, hospitals, health providers, local and international insurers, hotels and the entire value chain of medical tourism.
We believe that Medical Travel and Wellness needs to become a national interest activity, where the public and private sectors work hand in hand and compete based on:
- An offer with a guarantee of quality
- Require centers to have certifications
- Local regulations based on a legal framework
- International accreditations
“A regulatory framework is essential to have clear rules of our health offer. We also need to strengthen controls and epidemiological surveillance, as well as fighting against intrusion and clandestine centers operating without authorization,” said Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso on a statement sent to DoHealthWell®.
