Mitur and ADTS– Dominican Health Tourism Association- are working together to position the Dominican Republic as a high-quality destination for medical and wellness travelers.
The vision is shared by Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President of ADTS, and Jacqueline Monegro, director of Health Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.
Both entities attended the Santo Domingo Destino Capital 2018 to promote the country as a destination to more than 40 national and international tourism companies.
“The Health Tourism department and ADTS are working together to position the Dominican Republic as a Health and Wellness destination, that means high-quality medical treatment and the best of our tourism industry,” stated Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President of ADTS to DoHealthWell®.
On that thought, Amelia Reyes Mora, Vice President of the Dominican Health Tourism Association, said that the Mitur and ADTS partnership is an example of how important are public-private alliances for the country’s productive sector development.
Public Sector
At the event, the highest Health Tourism official in the Dominican Republic also noted the importance of promoting at international and local events like Santo Domingo Destino Capital 2018, held at the Catalonia Hotel.
“We are here promoting the diversification of our tourism offer and Santo Domingo as a Health destination, to achieve the presidential goal of 10 million tourists by 2022,” said Monegro to DoHealthWell®.
The tourism leader also talked about the collaboration between Mitur and ADTS for the development of Medical Travel and Wellness to the country.
Among these actions, she mentioned the sponsorship of the Ministry of Tourism to the 4th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress held by ADTS last September.
Also, the support by the Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia to the second edition of the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Destination Guide.
“Without a doubt, the Dominican Republic is the best option for your health and wellness vacation,” wrote Javier Garcia on the opening remarks of the guide.
On the guide, he also noted that the Caribbean country has the second-best transportation infrastructure in the region and the largest number of air and sea connections.
Mitur and ADTS at Santo Domingo Destino Capital 2018
More than a hundred operators, international wholesalers, exhibitors, officials of the Ministry of Tourism, and other relevant members of the tourism-economic sector of the nation gathered at the local event.
Doina de Campos, director of Santo Domingo Destino Capital 2018, mentioned that health tourism brings great opportunities to the city of Santo Domingo, being the entrance door of the Americas and as part of the “crossing of all ways” concept.
“From the beginning, one of my concerns was to integrate Health and Wellness Tourism. We have exceptional facilities, and the best hospitals of the Caribbean are here,” said de Campos on an exclusive interview for DoHealthWellTV on October 1st, opening day of the Santo Domingo Destino Capital 2018.
On her visit to the Mitur and ADTS joint stand, De Campos highlighted the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Destination Guide as an information reference to find cost-effective and quality treatment in Santo Domingo.
