Mayor David Collado to speak about the town hall’s role in Health Tourism
The Mayor of Santo Domingo, David Collado, joined the agenda of the 4th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress, on September 7th.
Collado is set to keynote the Role of the Mayor’s Office for the Development of a Health and Wellness Destination.
Mayor Collado is a politician, businessman, marketer, communicator and majored in Tourism.
On Day 3 from 12:30 PM to 01:00 PM, Collado’s presentation is the last one opened to participants, before heading to the invitation-only Banco Popular Private Investment Lunch.
The 4th International Health Tourism and Wellness Congress is a platform for multi-sectoral integration, business development, and great investment opportunities.
The Congress will be a meeting point for:
- Major national health centers
- Worldwide medical tourism authorities
- Diplomatic community
- Large buyers of international health
- Executives of US and Canadian hospitals
Also, high-level representatives of the following sectors:
- Financial
- Health
- Tourism

About Mayor David Collado
The highest local authority holds a degree in Tourism Relations from the Atlantic University. Currently, and currently study at the Social Networks Management at the University of Alicante, Spain.
In the general elections of 2016, he represented the Modern Revolutionary Party through his candidacy to the Mayor’s Office of the city of Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic.
He ended up winning with 56.69% of the votes, against Roberto Salcedo, the candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party and their allies, who achieved 37.10%.
David Collado is the President of the Foundation Council of the Entrepreneurs Fair of the Dominican Republic and a founding member of the Dominican Entrepreneur Award “Don Pepín Corripio.”
The mayor is the first advocate of a legislative initiative aimed at promoting and guaranteeing the permanence of new businesses in the Dominican Republic, called “Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Innovation Bill”.
The local authority is the precursor of the bill that declares more than 16 provinces of the country as eco-touristic. He also pushed the law 195-13 that modifies several articles of the Law 158-01 on an incentive to the Tourist Promotion of the Country.
Through this Law, the scope of the law was extended to allow different provinces in the country to have better opportunities to develop their tourism potential.
In politics, he has stood out in recent years for having been the most voted vice president of the National District and on a second time, the most voted deputy of the national district.
One that stands out is the remodeling of the Santo Domingo shore, called the Malecon.
At the presentation of the first phase of the remodeling project, Mayor David Collado said that the Malecon is a recreational cultural tourist pole that distinguishes the city from any other in the world for its natural beauty and its history, making it a country brand.
The three phases of the renovation project have an extension of 3,500 meters, with great potential to develop public spaces that allow healthy recreation and commercial activity in the area.
