The provincial director of the Ministry of Tourism in Puerto Plata, Stephanie Kfouri de Ventura, reported that hotel occupancy in that town has experienced a growth of 40.1% in the last 5 months.

She stated that the hotel occupancy on weekends in that town is 80%, which is the figure

Kfouri added in 15 days more than 8,100 cruise ship tourists have visited and enjoyed the many attractions of this tourist center, located on the Atlantic coast of the Dominican Republic.

She said that she has been working constantly with all the actors in the tourism field to continue reactivating tourism in Puerto Plata.

The official highlighted the increase in operations at the General Gregorio Luperón International Airport with direct weekly flights from Switzerland to Puerto Plata by the Zurich-based airline Edelweiss Air.

Kfouri stated that starting July 30th, a flight from the Canadian commercial airline Air Transat will be arriving every Friday, covering the direct route from Montreal to Puerto Plata.
