Half of resorts personnel in La Romana got the COVID-19 vaccine

The Hotel Association and the La Romana-Bayahíbe Cluster began the vaccination process of employees of tourism companies and resorts that are part of the La Romana destination, at the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace hotel facilities.

The initiative is part of the National Vaccination Strategy developed by the Health Cabinet, led by the vice president of the Dominican Republic, in order to stop the local spread of the virus and promote the country as a safe destination for international tourism.

The entity indicated that during the operation, more than 3,500 employees, belonging to the entire value chain of the tourism sector, have already received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine, in a process carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Public Health and with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Defense and the following resorts:

  • Casa de Campo
  • Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach & Palace
  • Hilton La Romana
  • Whala! Bayahibe
  • Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus
  • Catalonia Gran Dominicus & Royal La Romana
  • Dreams Dominicus La Romana
  • Be Live Collection Canoa

Andrés Fernández, president of the Hotel Association and the La Romana-Bayahibe Cluster expressed that this vaccination process is an important step for attracting international markets, and stressed that, once again, the union of the different actors of the destination has made the process a success, thus managing to vaccinate not only the hotel sector but also excursion employees and the rest of the complimentary offer, which will make the destination 100% immunized in less than a month.

“At the La Romana Destination we are committed to contributing to the recovery of the tourism sector in the area, and part of the strategy is to strengthen the health and safety systems of our employees, in order to guarantee that of our visitors”, said Fernández.

Likewise, he stated that these actions allow the country to move forward to continue maintaining itself as the leading tourist destination in the Caribbean.
