Germany declares the DR as unsafe to travel because of increased infections
The Ministry of Tourism reported that Germany declared the Dominican Republic an “unsafe country” due to the increase in COVID-19 cases that have occurred, although the flights that will arrive through the Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) remain in programming.
Scheduled flights from Germany are operated by Lufthansa and Condor from Frankfurt.
From May 31st to June 6th, the Punta Cana Airport scheduled the arrival of 252 international flights, an increase for the fifth week in a row, the entity reported in a press release.
Compared to the previous week, in which it received 242 flights, the PUJ receives 10 additional flights, “maintaining a sustained increase taking into account that the previous weeks it received 217, 227, 231 and 239 flights chronologically, so for this Monday 31st, which receives 34 flights, it would be totaling around 1,051 international flight arrivals in the month of May 2021″.
The operations of European countries remain the same as last week, Spain, Ukraine, Poland, and Switzerland, the same as from the US and Mexico in North America, Panama from Central America and Colombia, Venezuela, Peru from South America, and Puerto Rico.
“However, it is important to note that this increase does not occur in the main tourist areas of the country since it has been registered in the capital city, Santo Domingo,” they assured.
Chronologically, the Punta Cana Airport will be receiving 34 flights this Monday, May 31; On Tuesday, June 1, the arrival of 30 flights is expected, on Wednesday 02 the arrival of 29 is scheduled, while on Thursday 03 to 35 flights, on Friday 04 a total of 41, on Saturday 05 May, the day With the highest volume of operations, 44 flights are expected and the week ends on Sunday, June 6, with 39 flights
