Dr. Binoy Chattuparambil hosts conference in the Dominican Republic
Dr. Binoy Chattuparambil, Chief Cardiac Surgeon and Senior Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon at Health City, hosted a conference to create synergies, collaboration, and present success stories.
The event was held at the Hotel Intercontinental Real Santo Domingo, located within an area considered as the financial center of the country’s capital.
One of the main topics from the evening was ECMO technology. In 2017, Health City became the Caribbeans only regional center with Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO),
The ECMO is an extracorporeal technique of providing continued cardiac and respiratory support to persons whose heart and lungs are unable to provide an adequate amount of gas exchange or perfusion to sustain life.
ECMO works by removing blood from the person’s body and artificially removing the carbon dioxide and oxygenating red blood cells.
Dr. Binoy presented the scope of services for adult and pediatric cardiology, which included interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, and invasive hybrid cath lab services.
“Our goal is bringing affordable health with high quality,” said Dr. Binoy Chattuparambil during his presentation to doctors, hospital representatives, and Medical Travel leaders.
At the meeting, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President of the Dominican Health Tourism Association, met with Dr. Binoy following the purpose of the host from the Cayman Islands of creating synergies and collaboration.
Likewise, the Director of Health Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Jaqueline Monegro, represented the public sector at the meeting.
“We are here to reaffirm the commitment of the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia, of diversifying our Tourism offer (…) we can all learn from Health City’s experience and best practices,” said Monegro.
