Dominican Republic’s tourism sector gears protocols for reopening
The president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), Paola Rainieri, stated that the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic is developed protocols for the reopening of hotels and restaurants.
She sustained that these protocols were delivered to the government and include measures from international chains operating in the country.
As of now, there are travel restrictions because of COVID-19. “We still have to wait for the government to lift travel restrictions and set a reopening date for the tourism sector,” she said.
Reopening of restaurants
Rainieri said that restaurants are expected to comply with health guidelines like more spaces between tables, fewer diners, and with a restricted number of people.
In addition, Asonahores is also working with restaurants to make menus available on mobile applications to avoid touching physical ones.
The president of the largest tourism entity in the Dominican Republic said that hotels bound to comply with health guarantees for visitors.
“We will have to see, when we really begin to open, how everything works when implementing these protocols”, Rainieri added.
She commented that the sector would be ready to carry them out when they are allowed to open for business.
