Dominican Republic promotes its tourism potential at Expo 2020 Dubai
The Dominican Republic participates in Expo 2020 Dubai, an event to strategically promote its exportable product offer, its investment climate, tourist and cultural attractions, as well as the hospitality of the Dominicans.
This exhibition is one of the most important international events and celebrates creativity, innovation, humanity, and the cultures of the world for six months.
Through the exhibition, as well as the activities carried out within the framework of its celebration, the economic, cultural, and scientific growth of the participating nations is stimulated.
President Abinader stressed that the international event will play a transcendental role in the economic relaunch of the country in the post-pandemic context, at the same time that it will contribute to expose and strengthen sectors that make up the Dominican economy, such as tourism, agriculture, the logistics Hub. regional and free zones.
During the announcement, made at the Convention Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the president was accompanied by the chancellor, Roberto Álvarez; and the Ministers of Tourism, David Collado; and Culture, Carmen Heredia.
In addition, the director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro; the Viceminister for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugo Rivera; and the CEO of DP World in the Dominican Republic, Morten Johansen.
Moreover, the Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez stated that the commercial exhibition will lay the foundations to expand the presence and commercial relations with international allies, thanks to the public-private alliance made with DP World in the Dominican Republic and the support provided by the United Arab Emirates, whereby government investment in this fair is minimized.
At the event, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as coordinator of the Petit Committee created to manage the country’s participation in the exhibition, signed a memorandum of understanding together with the CEO of DP World in the Dominican Republic, through which the delivery is agreed of non-reimbursable technical and economic cooperation to the Dominican Government to cover the logistical and operational costs of our country in the international exhibition.
With the signing of the memorandum of understanding, DP World becomes the main sponsor of the Dominican Republic’s participation in EXPO 2020 Dubai, which is recognized for being the event of the greatest transcendence and international relevance in the world.
At Expo 2020 Dubai, the Dominican Republic will run a dynamic calendar of activities, from October of the current year until March 2022.
Through these events, which include virtual tours, concerts, exhibitions, among others, the country will show aspects related to investment, export, regional logistics hub, culture, and tourism.
