Dominican Republic is among the trending destinations for 2022
The Dominican Republic and La Fortuna, Costa Rica, were placed on TripAdvisor’s ‘Trending Destinations: World’ list. The travel platform recently revealed its first awards of 2022.
In them, a series of tourist centers were revealed at a global level that stand out for the great growth they have experienced in recent years, for which they begin to position themselves in the taste of international travelers.
This is how the two proposals from Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic managed to place themselves next to options such as Mallorca, Balearic Islands, which occupied the first position in the ranking, followed by Cairo, Egypt and Rhodes, Dodecanese, among others.
Ranked 17th is the Dominican Republic. “Among its attractions of greatest interest are the cable car ride to Mount Isabel de Torres and the delight of the impressive Saona Island”, TripAdvisor highlighted.
The Caribbean country received around 5 million foreign tourists at the end of last year, who arrive attracted by its exuberant and luxurious vacation refuges such as Punta Cana.
With its recent participation in Fitur 2022, the country made it clear that it is seeking the return of European travelers to its territory. Likewise, it begins to experience a change in the profile of the tourists it receives, who are now younger and want more enriching experiences than the all inclusive.
For its part, La Fortuna de San Carlos, Costa Rica, got the 22nd place, which closes the ranking of destinations that set trends. Its choice was due, in part, to the geological wonders that surround it and its proximity to the Arenal volcano.
“The Tabacón hot springs are a relaxing break in the middle of the different shows and the Leaves and Lizards Arenal Volcano Cabin Retreat are a glorious end to any day’s excursions”, said the travel platform.
The 1.3 million visitors that the Central American country receives, mainly from the United States, have contributed to consolidate one of the most successful models that has been promoted worldwide in tourism.
The firm commitment to sustainable travel in Costa Rica – embraced not only by its national parks, but also by an exclusive lodging proposal – has made it stand out from the rest of the Central American countries.
