Casa de Campo expands to 9,000 new hotels rooms
The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, led the first kickoff for the expansion of Casa de Campo, with an investment that exceeds 90 million dollars.
The head of state stressed that investments in tourism, industry, commerce and free zones, which will begin in 2022, will be an “absolutely unprecedented in the history of the Dominican Republic”.
He affirmed that the development of these sectors is of utmost importance for job creation, so there are reasons to be optimistic and to see the future in a positive way.
“Every time a hotel operation is opened, we have 1.2 direct jobs and at least three indirect jobs. In the free zones and industries, between 200 and 500 new jobs are created and there is no better public policy than job creation”, added the president.
He also highlighted that the country’s economic growth will close this year in double digits, ensuring that the government has the responsibility to carry out a good public spending policy, investing in social sectors to improve people’s quality of life, and that resources are used with transparency and honesty.
Expansion
The president’s remarks were given at the opening ceremony for the expansion of the Casa de Campo Resort & Villas hotel.
The work will have a private investment of 90 million dollars and is expected to create 500 direct jobs between construction and operations.
“I think it is a very important and special event because it is the first time that they are expanding their hotel offer and that for us, first, shows the confidence of this group in the Dominican Republic, but it also shows the projections and optimism that it reflects on hotel investment and the tourism sector”, said Abinader.
Tourism Minister David Collado said that “we have recovered the dignity of the tourism sector. Without a doubt, we are facing an unprecedented historical recovery in the Dominican Republic.”
The president of Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, Andrés Pichardo, added that in these almost 50 years, Casa de Campo has been one of the pioneers of luxury tourism and real estate in the country.
“We are very proud to continue developing the vision of our shareholders of the Central Romana Corporation to continue adding numerous first-class services and facilities, which continue to highlight the tourism of the region and the country”, he said.
