Boris Johnson returns to the UK after vacation in Casa de Campo
Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson left for his country after having been on vacation in the Dominican Republic, and having expressed to a close person that he will run to lead the country again, following the resignation of Liz Truss.
Johnson took a flight to the United Kingdom, and returns in economy class along with his wife and children, according to Sky News.
The outlet published a photo taken by Sky’s Michael Herd in which he says that US correspondent Mark Stone is on the same flight as the British politician.
Johnson boarded the plane ahead of everyone else, with his family, and “there was a mixed reaction: I was behind a glass area” and there was “some heckling, some people who seemed a little taken aback”, though Johnson wouldn’t. I have not been able to hear them “because I was behind the glass,” says the note from the aforementioned medium.
The British politician was on vacation in the east of the country, as confirmed by several sources.
He was staying at the exclusive Casa de Campo, in La Romana, after arriving to Punta Cana International Airport earlier this month.
Johnson saw his popularity suffer as prime minister following the Downing Street party scandal during the pandemic, but four months after he announced his resignation he has regained ground in the polls.
In a poll among Tory affiliates published this week, 32% of the party’s rank and file want him back in power, while 23% prefer Rishi Sunak, who according to recent polls is the favorite to replace Truss.
