Authorities call hoteliers and airports to harden COVID-19 safety protocols
The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, called on hotel and airport companies to harden the application of health protocols in their establishments, after the increase of the hotel occupancy and the arrival of travelers in the past Christmas season.
“A season with a greater flow of foreign visitors awaits us, in the middle of festivities and with a depleted population, requiring all this with greater fulfillment of the commitment with the protocols”, said the president.
Abinader spoke while participating along Collado in the signing of a commitment with hotel and airport owners for the reinforcement of health protocols, an event carried out by the Hyatt Ziva in Cap Cana.
“You have to practice your rigor, your sanitary protocol, you have to increase the tests to your employees, we have to have direct communication with the Ministry of Health to have the protocols properly coordinated,” said the Minister of Tourism.
He assured that, as a public sector, “with this commitment now the Government needs the support of all of you”.
Collado said that the Dominican Republic leads the health and safety protocols in the region to face COVID-19 and the best prepared to receive travelers.
Minister Collado informed about the transparency of the operations, where every dollar has been invested with the consensus of the private sector and the digital marketing promotion has been upgraded.
At the same time, he highlighted the agreements reached with airlines to resume flights such as Cóndor, Air France, British, and all Canadian tour operators.
President Abinader agreed with the Tourism minister and asked the hoteliers for strict adherence to the protocols and reinforcement of all measures that seek to reduce the risk of contagion.
