American Airlines and Dominican Airports (AERODOM) reported the arrival at Presidente Juan Bosch El Catey International Airport in Samaná (AZS) of the first flight from the city of Charlotte Douglas (CLT) in the United States, as part of a new destination opening for the northeast region of the country.

“We are extremely excited about the opening of our fifth destination in the country, Samaná, strengthening our commitment of more than 45 years with the country, with our team, and with all our Dominican clients”, added Oliver Bojos, general director of American Airlines for the Dominican Republic

The flight arrived on Dominican soil at 12:40 p.m. and received the traditional water arch welcome that formally opened the destination available for the tourist region of Samaná.

Bojos highlighted that this new destination seeks to boost the country’s tourism sector and support the initiatives being carried out to reactivate such an important industry for the national economy.

The new route leaves from the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport to the Samaná International Airport, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, at 9:25 am, arriving on Dominican soil at 12:58 pm, in an Embraer 175 with capacity for 88 people.

The flight left Samaná at 1:40 p.m., landing in Charlotte at 5:19 p.m.

American currently offers more than 130 weekly flights, connecting Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, Santiago, Puerto Plata, and Samaná with the airline’s hubs at CLT, Chicago (ORD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), and Philadelphia (PHL).
