Amelia Reyes leads discussion on developing a Medical Travel brand
Amelia Reyes, a Public Relations expert and President of AF Comunicacion Estrategica, will moderate a discussion focused on developing a Medical Travel brand.
Under the title “Strategies and Experiences in the Construction of a Health and Wellness Destination Brand,” Reyes tags along industry experts on the second day of the 4th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress, scheduled from September 5-7th.

After a 30 minute break, the Vice President of the Dominican Republic, Dr, Margarita Cedeño de Fernandez, is set to perform a conference titled “Importance of Public-Private Partnerships in the Development of Health Tourism in the Dominican Republic.”
In an April statement to a local newspaper, Amelia Reyes said that “Health and Wellness Tourism aligns with national development goals, as it promotes innovation, technology transfer, knowledge and foreign investment to our country. Is a segment that has improved, generating millions of foreign exchange to our economy.”

As a consultant for over 25 years, Amelia Reyes has worked with local and multinational brands like IBM, Citibank, and CEMEX, in roles that cover Human Resources, Communications, Corporate Affairs, Marketing, Industrial Safety, Health, and Environment.
She holds a master in Communications, Public Relations, and Protocol from the School of Business and Social Science.
Amelia Reyes has been a guest speaker at local and international forums like Fullbright, Funglode, and WORLDCOB.
Jacqueline Monegro, Director of Health Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Mitur)
Monegro has been leading the governmental Health Tourism department since 2017 and had more than a decade of experience at the Ministry of Tourism.
From 2004 to 2017 she was the Director of Human Resources at the Ministry of Tourism, while the country saw the biggest spikes in tourism to reach 6.1 million visitors last year.
Now Mrs. Monegro wants to take that experience to Medical Travel.
“Worldwide, Medical Travel is a US$100 billion dollar industry, according to the Medical Tourism Association. It generates productive chains that strengthen the country’s competitiveness,” said the public officer to ForbesMX last January.
Dr. Adolfo Moreno, Director of the Health and Dentistry Cluster of Medellín, Colombia
The Colombian doctor has a degree in Medicine from the Metropolitan University of Barranquilla and specializations in Health Services Administration and Hospital Management from the universities of Antioquia and Eafit, respectively.
His career links to public and private institutions in Medellin, the Valle de Aburra, and Antioquia. Among other positions, he was the manager of the Las Vegas Clinic, the San Rafael Hospital (Itagui) and the San Juan de Dios Hospital (Rionegro).
Mr. Massimo Manzi, Executive Director of International Medicine Promotion of Costa Rica
Since 2010 serves as Executive Director of both PROMED and PRORETIRE, the Council for the Retirement Living.
Manzi has worked in the organizing committee for the Summit of Heads of State and Government of 2004; was Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica from 2005 to 2006; Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry 2006 to 2007 and Chief of Staff of the Minister of Competitiveness from 2007 to 2010.
Martha Estrella, Editor at Caribbean Health Travel Magazine
Estrella runs Caribbean Health Travel Magazine, a tri-yearly magazine dedicated to broadcast information about Health and Medical Tourism.
The magazine is produced in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
