ADTS launches second Health and Wellness Destination Guide

Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, President of the Dominican Health Tourism Association (ADTS), launched the Second Health and Wellness Destination Guide, in a continuing effort to bring thousands of medical travelers to the country.

“The Dominican Republic Second Health and Wellness Destination Guide is the local Health sector’s answer to diversifying the tourism offer and contributing to the Presidential goal of attracting 10 million visitors by 2022,” said Dr. Cambiaso at the event held at the JW Marriot in Santo Domingo, the island’s capital.

The President of ADTS teamed up with the Medical Tourism Association (MTA), who served as a Publisher, and the public relations firm AF Comunicacion Estrategica, in providing medical travelers with educational and informational guidelines about receiving medical services.

“We allied with the Ministry of Tourism, the Export, and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic, and the Consular Corps, which demonstrates a real public-private alliance,” mentioned Dr. Cambiaso on his speech.

As a scoop, the 4th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress were announced.

The most important meeting of the Medical Travel sector is expected to be on September 5-7th at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino.

Moreover, Dr. Cambiaso also scooped a broad Health Tourism study, in an agreement signed with the National Competitiveness Council (CNC).

Recently, local media published that the study was awarded to the consulting firm Russa Garcia and Associates SRL.

The leader of the Medical Travel industry in the Dominican Republic stated that the Second Health and Wellness Destination Guide is the local health document with the highest international reach.

He mentioned the following as key elements for success in a highly competitive market:

The physician also stressed the importance of approving a Health Tourism law that promotes the transference of technology, best practices, a regulatory framework, and international certifications and accreditation.

What the Numbers Say

Medical Travel is a growing global industry that promises plenty of benefits to the traveler and the destination.

According to a new report published by Allied Market Research, titled, “Medical Tourism Market by Treatment Type: Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2017-2023,” the global market was valued at $61,172 million in 2016.

It is projected to reach $165,345 million by 2023. North America is anticipated to be the highest revenue contributor throughout the forecast period.

As a keynote point, the doctor recalled the investment lunch held at the 3rd International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress held in September of 2016 in Santo Domingo, Dr. Cambiaso.

That meeting centered on the presentation of new projects that will bring 300 more beds, three thousand jobs, innovative technology, orthopedic robotic surgery, telemedicine, hospitals with hotels, and more than 350 million dollars in investments.
