30 percent of tourists come as a family to the Dominican Republic
Of the foreign tourists who came to the Dominican Republic in June of this year, 30% did so as a family, according to official data.
23% falls into the adventure tourist category, 29% adults, and 18% belongs to the “senior” segment, according to a categorization carried out by the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).
Minister David Collado assured in a balance presented to the media about the industry- that Dominican tourism continues to break historical records, while other countries in the region have not yet recovered from the covid crisis and announce hotel closures, such as the case of Panama.
The arrival of 644,861 foreigners was reported in June, thus achieving the best June in the history of Dominican tourism. The United States and Colombia are the two countries that added the most to last month’s rebound. Of the total number of foreigners who visited the national territory, 32% did so from the United States. That represents 7% more than June 2019, when the world had not been hit by the covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, 23% of the foreigners who visited the Dominican Republic last month come from Colombia. That is, in the case of visits from Colombians, 127% above the amount that came to this nation in 2019, according to official data from Mitur.
When presenting the statistics, the Minister of Tourism indicated that the visit of the 644,861 in June represents a growth, in arrival, of 9.9%, compared to the record for the same period in 2018 and 9.8% higher than that of 2019.
